The 2-CD deluxe package, the digital deluxe version, and the 3-disc deluxe vinyl set feature over 90 minutes of music, five bonus tracks, an exclusive fold-out poster and liner notes from the composers. Additionally, the vinyl set features etched vinyl art and an album download card.

“Junkie XL is an incredibly insightful film composer. It was a perfect idea for us to work together on the ‘Batman v Superman’ score,” explained Academy-Award-winning composer Zimmer. Grammy nominee Junkie XL showed equal excitement at the pairing, saying, “Hans has an incredible legacy, and I was extremely thrilled when he approached me to work on ‘Batman v Superman’ with him.”

The composers discussed their close working relationship with director Zack Snyder. “Zack allows us to try things we haven’t tried before. He’s very supportive of the eccentricities that we bring to this,” says Zimmer. Junkie XL concurred. “He’s very open and accepting of our ideas, and infuses the creative process with an energy that inspires you.”

“Hans and Tom (Junkie XL) created an incredibly compelling and interesting new musical world for Batman, while continuing to expand on the amazing world and themes Hans had previously created for Superman,” noted director Zack Snyder. “By aligning their vision with my perspective and seeing the characters anew through the lens of the film they were able to support the visual aspects of movie in a way that elevates the film to another level. In so many ways, they become the final texture, the final note in the process of creating the world.”

“This electrifying collaboration brings us such brilliant new character themes,” commented WaterTower Music head Jason Linn, “While we’ve been fortunate to work several times with both composers individually, this experience has been uniquely thrilling.”

Zack Snyder on Conan

Earlier this evening Zack Snyder was on The Conan O’ Brien show where he talked the bat- mobile and revealed the first clip from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice!

You can really tell that Batman and Superman really hate each other and it is awesome. Only 70 plus days until we get that film in theaters.

New ‘Batman v Superman’ TV Spot

Zack Snyder took to twitter today to release a new Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice TV Spot!

In addition to the new TV Spot we also find out that indeed it is Batman who says that amazing line “Tell me do you bleed?…..You WILL!” Many of us including myself believed that this voice would be Doomsday. Thankfully, it is indeed Batfleck saying the line.

Check out the new TV Spot and let us know what you think in the comment section.

TNT Scraps ‘Titans’ Television Series

maxresdefault

TNT has decided not to move forward with its proposed “Titans” live action television series. Kevin Reilly President of TNT made the announcement during the Television Critics Association press day in California.

“We just decided it wasn’t quite where we wanted to go,” said Reilly.

The proposed series was to be written by Academy Award winning writer Akiva Goldsman and Marc Haimes. Goldsman who penned the screenplay for Batman and Robin and won an Academy Award for A Beautiful Mind, was to Co-Produce this live action television series as well.

Not many details were known for ‘Titans’ other than that the character of Nightwing would have lead the charge for the group of would be DC superheroes in the ongoing series.

Now that TNT is no longer going to put this series on television this would be a great opportunity for DC Entertainment to finally get in bed with Netflix and begin producing great DC related shows on that network. Here’s to hoping for that.

Batman: Year One Review Part 2

Batman: Year One Book 2

Author: Kim Gaines

In case I didn’t express it clearly enough in my review for the first chapter of Batman Year One, Jim Gordon is one badass MotherYouKnowWhat!

For real.

The chapter starts off with a hostage situation, where an insane man released from Arkham is holding up three children in a house. (Let’s take brief moment to ponder whose bright idea it was to release a man from Arkham. I repeat, from Arkham.) Now while the other officers are ready to shoot the hell out of this establishment with little regard for the lives involved, Gordon rolls up, relinquishes his gun, and walks right in.

Crazy hostage holding man: No lunch, no lunch…
Gordon: I’ll order out.

Jim Gordon ain’t got time for this.

From there Miller launches into a wonderful narrative from Gordon’s point of view, that’s gritty, sharp, and poignant. At the range, he hates guns, but he doesn’t stop shooting. At home, work takes him away, but he doesn’t ignore the call. He’s a such a unique character, and he mimics many of the same traits and burdens as Bruce. It’s interesting to see how much they are alike, even before they knew each other.

Switching to Batman’s point of view, Bruce still isn’t at the level we know and love; the level we’ve come to expect. He definitely struggles with three kids stealing a TV. Not because they’re enough to challenge him, but because he doesn’t really want to hurt them. Bruce’s internal voice here, is great. One of my favorite things about Batman comics, is listening to his thought process as he fights and works his way through the situation. It really allows you to see how all the gears turn, and subsequently make the entire machine work.

As the story goes on, the police are trying to figure out how to deal with Batman. At first the current Commissioner can’t be bothered with the details. But when Batman threatens him, and all the dirty politicians and gangsters that he works with, his tune changes pretty quickly. Gordon suddenly finds himself under more pressure to get rid of Batman, by any means necessary.

This particular part of the story is very remnant of the Nolan films. If you ever wanted to explore more of the universe he was trying to create, I’d start with this comic. Batman has always been more than a superhero story. It’s a detective story. Miller understands that, and I think his choice to examine Gordon and Bruce as entirely separate characters first, helps push that angle of this universe, and makes it more thrilling to watch.

Especially watching Gordon watch. Rather than just trying to catch Batman, he’s trying to figure out he is. And his guesses might surprise you. Gordon is smart, intuitive, and strong. Batman didn’t just pick a guy off the force to be his comrade. He picked the best.

And this comic just keeps reminding you of that.

Over and over again.

UK Synopsis for Batman v Superman!

batman-vs-superman-ew-pics-3

Thanks to everyone over at VUE Entertainment we now have the UK version of the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice film synopsis.

“Following his titanic struggle against General Zod, Metropolis has been razed to the ground and Superman is the most controversial figure in the world. While for many he is still an emblem of hope, a growing number of people consider him a threat to humanity, seeking justice for the chaos he has brought to Earth.

As far as Bruce Wayne is concerned, Superman is clearly a danger to society. He fears for the future of the world with such a reckless power left ungoverned, and so he dons his mask and cape to right Superman’s wrongs. The rivalry between them is furious, fueled by bitterness and vengeance, and nothing can dissuade them from waging this war. However, a dark new threat arises in the form of a third man: one who has a power greater than either of them to endanger the world and cause total destruction.

The superhero stand-off that the world has been waiting for is finally arriving in cinemas, with an all-star cast bringing to life the characters we all love. Zack Snyder (300) returns as director following the huge success of 2013’s Man of Steel, along with Henry Cavill (The Man from U.N.C.L.E.) in the role of Superman.

Also starring Ben Affleck (Gone Girl) as Batman, Amy Adams (American Hustle) as Lois Lane, and Gal Gadot (Fast & Furious 7) as Wonder Woman, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is an explosive, action-packed blockbuster that is sure to thrill DC fans everywhere.”
