Affleck to Direct Solo Batman

After months of speculation, Warner Brothers Pictures has found their man to tackle the next outing of Batman in Ben Affleck. Affleck who is hot off of directing “Argo,” “The Town,” and “Gone Baby Gone” will finally have his crack at tackling the caped crusader. According to the folks at Deadline this is a done deal, and great news for fans of the Batman on film. Ben-Affleck-directing-Argo-550x329

Ever since Ben Affleck was cast as the new Batman back in 2013, we at Shanlian on Batman have been hearing whispers from the corners of the movie world that indeed Affleck was going to direct the next outing of The Dark Knight. Before Affleck gets behind the camera on Batman, he will first tackle Affleck will first direct the film “Live By Night” that was originally going to film back in 2013. However, that project was pushed back so that Affleck could go film “Batman v SupAffleck-Directingerman: Dawn of Justice” Now Warners has greenlit that project and after Affleck is done working on that film, he will move right into filming the next Batman film.

This is great news, and according to that same article from Deadline, he will be working closely with Geoff Johns on crafting the story for that film. It is unclear if Johns will write the screenplay with Affleck, as it was rumored that Chris Terrio would help pen that particular script with Affleck. More of that will come as we get closer to filming, and with the Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic Con coming in just a few hours there might in fact be more news regarding this developing story.

Batman: Arkham Knight review

By Kyle “TheMrToodles” Davis

Note: This review is free of spoilers and based on my experiences with the PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight

Batman: Arkham Knight is the latest installment in the Arkham line of video games. Developed by Rocksteady Studios, this is their third title in the series. The series began back in 2009 with Batman: Arkham Asylum, continued in 2011 with Batman: Arkham City, and just now in 2015 concluding with Batman: Arkham Knight. Side note: Batman: Arkham Origins was not developed by Rocksteady Studios, so it is not officially a part of the series cannon.

Affleck May Direct Solo Batman Film

According to “Da7e” over at Latino-Review.com Ben Affleck will not only star in a solo Batman movie that will make its debut in November of 2018, but he will also direct that solo Batman film as well, rumored to be titled “The Batman.” Da7e also goes further in his reporting stating that Chris Terrio who rewrote “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” will also write the script for Affleck’s solo Bat-film.

If true, Terrio who won an Oscar for Affleck’s “Argo” now becomes one of the busiest writers in Hollywood. Not only did he have a hand in rewriting Goyer’s script for BvS, but he also is signed up to write “Justice League Part 1 and 2.”

This is not surprising to us at ShanlianOnBatman.com as we have been hearing for sometime that Affleck would indeed be the one to helm this film. These rumors have been circulationg since Affleck signed on to don the cape in cowl back in August of 2013.

We at SOB are 100% behind this idea, and hope that Affleck does indeed direct this film. He is a very visceral filmmaker, and the perfect choice do take over the director’s chair left empty by Christopher Nolan. Affleck is one of the hottest directors in Hollywood at the moment and Warner Bros. is keen to keep him in house, and what would be a better project for Affleck to direct? It is well known that Affleck loves the character of Batman, and for him to helm the project would make total sense. If this rumor does pan out, ben-affleck-directing-e1344456426473en atman on film will be left in gooBd hands.
